McPherson College has named an experienced interim president while it conducts a search for a permanent leader.
Dr. Neil Thorburn will take over Jan. 28 for President Gary Dill, who resigned last November. Thorburn will serve as president until a permanent replacement can be found for the 2003-04 academic year, said Vincette L. Goerl, chairwoman of the McPherson College Board of Trustees
Thorburn was the president at Wilmington College in Ohio until his retirement in 1995. He now is part of a consortium of former college and university presidents who serve in interim president or senior administrative roles.
Thorburn has served as interim president of Holy Names College in Oakland, Calif., and just completed an assignment as interim provost at the College of Saint Benedict/St. John's University, Minn.
