Perhaps now is the time to soberly rethink our future, to understand we are in a new world, and to prevent another such occurrence. To know we all are a part of this world, and this world is a part of us. We are all in this together.
Someday, there must come through world reckoning a time for world leaders to discuss the future of this planet. To examine our world's past history, present condition, and potential futures. A time, perhaps, to analyze and discuss all our differences without condemnation, blame or guilt. To try to not judge, but to understand and to accept all people of this world as human beings.
The time to acknowledge one person's private thought of a Supreme Being is not reason to kill others who believe different. Nor should religions dictate matters or attitudes of state or impact law. Governments are its citizen's business, while religion is personal business, personal beliefs in an idea, a thought. The two have nothing in common. Upon examination we all might understand that religions are neither good, nor bad, only different. All religions on this Earth are far more similar to each other once past the metaphor of God.
Governments also have no right to foster belief systems or structures on others. The days of colonialization and conquering Third World nations are past. Each country, like people, is unique is its own history and way. And each sustains the same autonomous right to its own government for its own people within its own borders. No country should infringe or invade another country's sovereign territory without just or provoked cause.
We are on this planet for such a very short time. Would it be too much to try giving our children and all the world's children the hope of a world of peace and security, not war and brutality? Could we make a difference l00 years from now? Only, if we choose to.
