The Lawrence Board of Realtors Saturday night ushered in 2002 by announcing new leadership and bid farewell to 2001 by honoring some of its best.
J. Leslie Foust, a Realtor at Lawrence Realty Associates, was named Realtor of the Year for 2001 at the board's annual mixer at the Lawrence Country Club.
"She is the finest example of what a Realtor ought to be," said Kelvin Heck, who won the award last year and introduced Foust.
Also recognized for local real estate achievement were Annette Hughes and Larry A. Hatfield.
Hughes, with Stephens Real Estate, was named Salesperson of the Year, and Hatfield, with Hatfield Appraisals, was presented with the Distinguished Service Award.
"He's probably listed and sold more houses than 95 percent of the people in this room," said 1982 board president Pat Flavin, who introduced Hatfield.
The board officers for 2002 also were introduced Saturday. President Cheri Drake succeeded outgoing president Caren Rowland. Paul Forio took Cheri Drake's spot as president-elect. Linda Trotter will be the new secretary, replacing exiting Cindy Folsom. Diane Kennedy will fill the treasurer's position previously held by Mark Hess.
The 118 board members with sales topping $1 million during the past year were given production awards. Longevity awards were presented to those who had served five, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 continuous years as board members.
