She was born Jan. 9, 1947, in Augusta, Ark., the daughter of Marion and Patricia Jean Potter Fugett. The family lived in Kansas City, Mo., before moving to Lawrence, where she attended school and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1965.
After her marriage, she lived in Lawrence, Topeka and Hamlin before moving to Hiawatha. She worked at several places in Hiawatha, including Wal-Mart for 15 years. Recently she had been involved in eBay business and auction sales.
She married George M. May on June 10, 1965, in Lawrence. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Rick May and Jeffrey May, both of Hiawatha, and Kenneth May, Lawrence; a daughter, Sheli May, Grantville; a sister, Janie Christenberry, DeSoto; four brothers, Steve Fugett, Lecompton, Mike Fugett, Topeka, Lonnie Fugett, Perry, and David Fugett, Lawrence; and seven grandchildren.
Friends may call after noon today at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
The family suggests memorials to the Pat May Memorial Fund to be designated later by the family, sent in care of the funeral home, 519 N. First St., Hiawatha 66434.
