Kaden has a brother, Mackenzie, 9, and a sister, Siera, 3.

Liesl and Zachary Faircloth, Elk River, Minn., announce the birth of their son, Gatlin Pierce Faircloth, born Jan. 9, 2002, in Elk River, Minn.

Grandparents are Jim and Colleen Hirmann, Elk River, Minn., and Randall and April Faircloth, Eudora.



Elmer E. Lindell, Lawrence, will be celebrating his 80th birthday at a reception where his children and grandchildren will serve as hosts. The reception will be from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the American Legion Post No. 14, 3408 W. Sixth St. Friends and family are invited to attend.



George Corn, Lawrence, will celebrate his 90th birthday with a reception from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Union Pacific Depot.

George has lived in this area most of his life and was the owner of Corn's Studio of Beauty, which was located at 904 Vt., where Wheatfields Bakery is located. He works part time at The Orchards Golf Course and plays golf almost daily.

He is an avid fisherman, hunter, horseman and supporter of Kansas University athletics. He is a member of Sertoma Club and participates in Senior Olympics.



The Lawrence Accredited Music Teachers' Recital will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lawrence Arts Center, 200 W. Ninth St.

Students who will be performing are: Ngomi Kurata, Ken Kurata, Nora Elbayoumy, Hannah Lusk, Charles He, Wagner Tong, Gina Tong, Jimmy He, Emily Keizer, Andy Connolly, Eric Palmquist, Maxwell Gregoire, Clare Hove, Sarah Elbayoumy, Abigail Adams, Flora Jiang and Jane Mikkelson. They represent the studios of Patricia Burgstahler, Carol Cook, Jean Drumm, Elaine de San Miguel, Sylvia Frank and Sarah Higgins.



Erin Murphy, Lawrence, has been named to the fall 2001 trimester Academic Honor Roll at the Missouri Academy of Science, Mathematics and Computing in Maryville, Mo. To be named, she earned at least a 3.5 grade point average. Murphy is the daughter of Mrs. Charles Heller.
