Ozawkie resident killed in truck-van collision

A brother and his sister, heading to Florida to visit relatives, were killed when their van was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer and pushed into a propane truck.

Carl Victory Stinnett, 72, of Ozawkie, Kan., and Vernia E. Blake, 63, of Nashville, Tenn., were killed near Cordele.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was slightly injured.

Troopers said the accident was still under investigation.

Fort Riley

Soldier dies in Virginia after long illness

A Fort Riley soldier has died in northern Virginia after a long illness, the U.S. Army said.

Shondell Wilson, 24, died Sunday at a hospital in Arlington, Va., the Army said. Wilson of Tasly, Va., joined the Army in 1997 and had been stationed at Fort Riley since May 1998. She was a unit supply specialist.

A memorial service was scheduled for Jan. 28.
