He was born Nov. 23, 1962, in Warrensburg, Mo., the son of Burnis Dale DeAtley and Esther Lucille Huff Moore. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1981. He attended Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, for two years, then attended Kansas University.
Mr. DeAtley worked for UBC Lumber Co., Lawrence. He formerly worked for Payless Cashways, Lawrence, Westlake Hardware, Lawrence, and as a manager in Topeka.
He was a member of First Christian Church, Lawrence.
Survivors include a son, Josh, Lee's Summit, Mo.; his parents, Lucy and Curt Moore and Dale and Janie DeAtley, all of Odessa; two brothers, Kevin, Victorville, Calif., and Leo LaMatry, Odessa; three sisters, Rhonda Smith and Sandy Hon, both of Odessa, and Jacqui Coy, Bates City, Mo.; and his maternal grandmother, Elsie Huff, Poplar Bluff, Mo.
The family suggests memorials for Josh's education fund, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence, which is handling local arrangements.
