She was born Jan. 16, 1922, in Munjor, the daughter of John and Mary Theresa (Herl) Pfannenstiel.

Mrs. Schumacher was a nurse's aide for many years, working in Salina, Plainville and Dodge City.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a volunteer at St. Anthony's Hospital and St. John's

Nursing Home, all of Hays.

She married Nicholas J. Schumacher on Oct. 4, 1943, in Hays. He died June 20, 1995.

Survivors include a son, Neal Schumacher, Columbia, Mo.; two daughters, Deanna Bieberly, Lawrence, and Pamela Hines, Hays; two brothers, Henry Pfannenstiel, Hays, and Danny Pfannenstiel, Munjor; six sisters, Ida Dinkel, Minnie Berens and Armella Ross, all of Hays, Louise Stecklein, Munjor, Rosie Dome, Basehor, and Theresa Schippers, Victoria; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to St. Francis Cemetery Assn., sent in care of Hays Memorial Chapel, 1906 Pine St., Hays 67601.
