She was born March 22, 1916, in Lawrence, the daughter of William Henry and Florence S. (Flory) Elston.
Mrs. Guthrie was a mother and homemaker. She worked in the clerical department for the Geological Survey until 1939. She was a Sunday school teacher and was active in the Douglas County Extension program.
She married Marvin Guthrie on June 2, 1942, in Olathe. He died June 5, 2000.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Louise Barrand, Marjorie Suel Ray and Mary Elizabeth Meyer, all of Lawrence; three sons, David William Guthrie, Ronald Eugene Guthrie and Joseph Leroy Guthrie, all of Lawrence; a sister, Marguerite Johnson, Lawrence; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
