The above list may or may not include your affiliate group or church but with the 52 religious and social service groups mentioned above, there is something seriously wrong that AGAIN some more do-gooders come forward with yet another scheme to ask for shelters and detox centers. Please, enough is enough!
I hope the various board members of these churches and listed social service groups ask themselves just how effective their organizations are. It appears to me as I have listened in at different meetings and read news accounts of various proposals, that the time has come to STOP funding more and more of the same.
City commissioners and county commissioners need to start asking some very pointed and direct questions and stop handing out money every time someone who comes in and cries the loudest and longest to perpetuate their own existence or newfound scheme with little benefit to the majority, I repeat, majority, of residents and citizens of Lawrence and Douglas County.
