This Clinton-era legal action is an example of political meddling at its finest, and it continues to drag down the economy. I for one wish Stovall would accept the settlement proposed by the DOJ and help end the whole regrettable incident. The fact that she is the only Republican AG in the holdout states (aside from Utah, home of Novell Corp.) makes me question her commitment to Republican ideals. If we ever suffer the misfortune of having her elected governor, I wouldn't be at all surprised if she pulls a Jim Jeffords-style party switcheroo. Abandoning the Republican Party would make it easier for her to continue practicing the economic and social engineering she seems to love.
