Topeka Three new members of the House of Representatives took their seats Monday as the 2002 legislative session began.
Rep. Alan Goering, D-Medicine Lodge, was sworn in by Supreme Court Chief Justice Kay McFarland. Goering replaces Richard Alldritt, who resigned Saturday to devote his time to being city administrator in Harper.
The two other new members are Reps. Tim Owens, R-Overland Park, and Roger Toelkes, D-Topeka, both of whom were sworn in last fall. Owens replaces Phil Kline of Overland Park, while Toelkes replaces his wife, Dixie.
Rep. Gene O'Brien, D-Parsons, missed the start of the session. He was injured last fall in an accident at a concrete factory near Branson, Mo. O'Brien is recovering at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
