College Station, Texas Texas A&M coach Peggie Gillom had been waiting for LaToya Rose to come around. The wait ended Saturday.
Rose, who had just 19 points in the Aggies' last four games, scored a career-high 28 points, including a school-record tying eight three-pointers, as the Aggies upended No. 6 Iowa State, 88-71, Saturday.
"Rose was on," said Gillom, whose Aggies beat Iowa State for the first time. "We knew she could do this. Sometimes she gets her head down a little, but this was one time where she didn't get her head down. She felt it today."
Rose opened the game with three three-pointers and Texas A&M (10-5, 2-1 Big 12 Conference) never trailed.
"Before the game I was thinking that I couldn't dwell on the last game or the last two games," Rose said.
The Cyclones (13-3, 1-3) lost their second straight.
Texas A&M scored 29 points off 32 Iowa State turnovers while the Cyclones, third in the Big 12 in three-point field goal percentage at 38.5 percent, shot 22.2 percent.
A&M opened up a 21-point lead early in the second half, but the Cyclones closed it to as few as seven after Lindsey Wilson and Angie Welle combined to score all of the Cyclones' points during an 18-4 run.
Welle finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds, her ninth double-double of the season. Texas A&M went back up by 12 with 3:29 remaining after the Cyclones' bench was given a technical foul. After the technical, Texas A&M was 8-for-10 on free throws.
A&M's Toccara Williams added 12 points, 12 assists, eight rebounds and eight steals.

Manhattan Kendra Wecker had 21 points and 12 rebounds and Laurie Koehn scored 26 to lead Kansas State (16-1, 4-0 Big 12) to it 13th straight win in front of a record crowd of 13,466. Nicole Ohlde added 18 points and nine rebounds for Kansas State.

Boulder Colo. Mandy Nightingale had 16 points and five assists as Colorado (11-6, 1-3 Big 12) ended a three-game losing streak.

Salt Lake City Angie Gorton scored five of her 24 points in the third overtime, and Colorado State (13-3, 2-0 Mountain West) beat Utah (8-6, 1-1) after overcoming a 17-point deficit in the second half. Erin Gibbons led the Utes with 24 points.

Pittsburgh Kim Makie scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds as Boston beat Pitt. The Eagles (12-3, 3-1 Big East) were 19 of 21 from the free-throw line.
