Three for one is a heckuva lot of fun, says Lawrence hunter Justin Hoffman.
Hoffman, 22, was hunting quail last week in Brown County near the Nebraska border with his grandfather Ken Callicott.
"We had only been hunting for about 15 minutes when our English pointer locked down on a covey," Hoffman said. "I went to flush the birds and took a shot."
Hoffman's shot killed three quail.
"My grandpa said he has been bird hunting for 70 years and has never seen that or anything close to that," Hoffman said. "One shot, three quail. He said that was truly amazing."
Hoffman was using a 20 gauge Franchi hunter gun with 8 shot size shells.
