She was born Dec. 16, 1915, in Overbrook, the daughter of George and Elsie (Jensen) McCain. She had lived in Topeka and Sun City, Ariz., most of her life.

She married Ernest W. Dowell Aug. 29, 1934, in Topeka. He died Dec. 23, 1984.

Mrs. Dowell had worked as a clerk for the State of Kansas motor vehicle department. She was a member of the Willow Brook United Methodist Church, Sun City, Ariz. She was a former member of the Beulah Chapter No. 34, Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Dowell and her husband were active in the Topeka Round-Up Club.

A niece, Sharon Kay McCain Blodgett, died earlier.

Survivors include a brother, Floyd G. McCain, Perry; a nephew, F. Lee McCain, Virginia Beach, Va.; five great-nieces; and two great-nephews.

Friends may call from noon Monday until services at the mortuary. Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday.
