Friberg-Demarest
Deborah Michelle Friberg, Baldwin, and Eric Michael Demarest, Lawrence, were married June 9, 2001, at College Church of the Nazarene, Olathe, with the Rev. Ron Jackson officiating.
The bride is the daughter of James and Karen Friberg, Baldwin. The groom is the son of Kenneth and Susan Demarest, Lawrence.
Sharon Friberg was matron of honor. Ryan Reed was best man.
Bridesmaids were Tina Leffler and Becky Demarest. Groomsmen were Phong Dargon and James Friberg Jr.
Gracie Cape was the flower girl. Randy Van Dolah was ring bearer. Ushers were Joel Cape and Wayne Van Dolah. Kristina Van Dolah was candlelighter. Scriptures were read by Christie Rogers. Soloists were Mark Clark and Stacey Clark. Kathy Smith was pianist. Gift attendants were Marian Cape and Nancy Friberg. Julie Friberg and Kelley Friberg were guestbook attendants. Wedding coordinator was Kathy Lunn.
A lunch reception was held in Uphaus Hall at the church, where Lucie Cape and Gina Van Dolah were servers.
The bride is a 1994 Baldwin High School graduate. She received a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a minor in Spanish from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 1998. She earned a master's degree in education from Baker University in May 2000. She is a kindergarten teacher at Pioneer Christian Academy, Olathe.
The groom is a 1997 Baldwin High School graduate. He received a bachelor's degree in music composition in May 2001 at the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, Wheaton, Ill. He is employed as an assistant video producer at Overland Park Video, Overland Park.
The couple reside in Olathe.
Redeker-Fairchild
Jean Redeker and Michael Fairchild, both of Lawrence, were married Sept. 2, 2001, at Kansas University's Danforth Chapel with Jim Brothers officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Bob and Mary Redeker, Ottawa. The groom is the son of Geneva Fairchild, Morganton, N.C., and the late Calvin Fairchild.
Matron of honor was Tamra Coopman. Jeff Ytell was best man.
Bridesmaids were Jan Wallis, Tricia Peavler, Julie Mettenburg and Kristi Desjardins. Groomsmen were Bob Lavendusky, Greg Rupp, Harry Gifford and Mac Boatright.
Liz Redeker and Linda Jenkins were candlelighters. Bill Crahan and Scott Tichenor provided music.
A reception was held at the bride and groom's home.
The bride is a graduate of Ottawa High School and Kansas University, where she received a bachelor's degree in journalism. She received a master's degree in library science from Emporia State University. She is pursuing a doctorate in higher education administration at KU. She is employed as a program manager at KU's Department of Continuing Education.
The groom is a graduate of Waverly High School. He received a bachelor's degree from Kansas University. He is self-employed as a graphic designer.
The couple reside in Lawrence.
Russell-Neher
Sally Ann Russell, Lawrence, and Kevin Van Finley Neher, Richmond, Va., were married Oct. 27, 2001, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Lawrence, with the Rev. Peter Oesterlin officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Russell Jr., Lawrence. The groom is the son of and Mr. and Mrs. Richard F. Neher, Richmond, Va.
Mary Sanderford was maid of honor. Best man was Timothy Boswell.
Bridesmaids were Sara Neher, Sarah Penny, Anna McElwain Brewer, Sara Cooley and Lindsay Kaplan. Genevieve Voigt was flower girl.
Groomsmen were John Gray, David Parker, Benjamin Guevara, Scott Wilson and Matthew Skernolis.
Ushers were Jonathon Morgan, Jason Chen and Philip Worthington. Candlelighters were Anne Barnette and Stephanie Caine. Guest attendants were Sarah Dansker and Alden Kline.
A reception was held at Alvamar Country Club, Lawrence.
The bride is a 1997 Lawrence High School graduate and a 2001 graduate of the University of Virginia. She is a teaching intern at the Potomac School, McClean, Va.
The groom is a 1997 graduate of The Collegiate School, Richmond, Va., and a 2001 graduate of the University of Virginia. He is an economic analyst for the law firm of Foley and Lardner, Washington, D.C.
The couple reside in Arlington, Va.
Gray-White
Jody Gray and Brandon White, both of Lawrence, were married June 9, 2001, at the First Christian Church, Lawrence, with Pam and Steve Allen and Paul Gray officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Paul and Kitsy Gray, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Michael and Ange White, Lawrence.
Tacy Flory was matron of honor. Adam Loewen was best man.
Bridesmaids were Caley Vaughan, Anna Hosek, Amanda Eicher, Julia Fonseca, Erica Hill and Jana Hoisington. Groomsmen were Zach White, Justin White, Christopher White, Abram Crislip, Dan Smith and Jay Gray.
Ushers were Gabe Douglas and Eric Wagner. Scripture was read by Heather Razak. Michelle Hall was the guest book attendant.
A reception followed at Heartland Community Church.
The bride is a 1996 Lawrence High School graduate. She received a bachelor's degree in middle/secondary social studies from Kansas University in 2001. She is completing certification requirements at KU.
The groom is a 1997 Lawrence High School graduate. He is a para-educator, teaching supplemental reading at Centennial School.
The couple reside in Lawrence.
