Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 853 has selected Estelle Montgomery, a Eudora High School student, to represent the Douglas County area in the Eastern Kansas Veterans of Foreign Wars' Voice of Democracy program.
Montgomery's essay regarding the National VFW theme of "Reaching Out to America's Future" addressed the topic of "Kids Voting in Kansas" and how teaching youth the values of voting supports the principles of democracy.
