Lawrence Police Wednesday arrested a 42-year-old Lawrence man on suspicion of stealing $180 from his employer. The man, who drives for Lawrence Taxi Service, was supposed to return to the business at 315 Industrial Lane after dropping off his last fare of the evening to fuel and clean out his vehicle, Lawrence Police Sgt. Paul Fellers said. Another employee called police late Wednesday when the vehicle had not yet returned. Officers found the car in a wash bay at Fast Eddy's Car Wash, 1020 N. Third St., Fellers said. Officers arrested the man at his home, and he was being detained late Thursday in Douglas County Jail.

Someone busted out the window of a Lawrence city bus Wednesday, causing $600 damage. The woman driving the bus, owned by MV Transportation, 930 E. 30th St., told Lawrence Police the window was intact when she started her shift at 12:40 p.m., Sgt. Paul Fellers said. But when she was cleaning the bus when her shift ended at 8 p.m., she noticed the glass in a 3-by-3-foot window on the driver's side had shattered inward and landed on several seats and the floor, Fellers said. The driver did not know when or where the damage occurred or who might have caused it, Fellers said.
