— Services for Frances Colleen Pilgrim, 79, Oskaloosa, formerly of Kansas City, Mo., and the Eudora area, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hesper Friends Church, rural Eudora. Burial will be in Hesper Friends Cemetery, rural Eudora.

Ms. Pilgrim died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center, Topeka.

She was born Dec. 17, 1922, in Cedar Dale, the daughter of King and Hazel (Oller) Smith. She lived in Kansas City, Mo., for many years before moving to Oskaloosa in 1991.

Ms. Pilgrim was a cook for Hyatt-Regency Hotel, Kansas City, Mo. She retired in 1991 after more than 20 years of service. She formerly had worked as a cook at Kansas University for several years.

She was a member of Hesper Friends Church; Oskaloosa Senior Citizens; and Rebekah Lodge, Eudora.

Survivors include three sons, Wesley Hale, Lawrence, Nathan Hale, Ontario, Ore., and Harold Hale, Kansas City, Kan.; three daughters, Rebecca Kaye Bryant, Oskaloosa, Jeannette Ray, Lawrence, and Joyce Bledsoe, Oskaloosa; a brother, Kirby Freeman, Chicago; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

A grandson died earlier.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa.

The family suggests memorials to American Heart Assn., or to Hesper Friends Church, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 416, Oskaloosa 66066.
