On Jan. 10, 1902, the Lawrence World told of plans for a new YMCA building. The World noted, "Work will be commenced for subscription inside of a month. Geo Innes made a strong plea for the establishment for the boys and young men of the city, clearly showing the necessity of such an establishment for the upbuilding of physical, intelligent and moral growth."
