— Iowa State's victory over No. 17 Missouri almost was enough to make a grown man cry.

"I almost came to tears after the game because I was so happy for this team," Iowa State coach Larry Eustachy said after his team beat Missouri 71-67 Wednesday night. "They needed a bone, if you will, and they got one. This is a good reward for them."

Tyray Pearson scored a career-high 28 points for Iowa State (9-7, 1-1 Big 12), and Jake Sullivan added 20. The Cyclones went ahead to stay with an 11-0 run midway through the second half, then made one key shot after another down the stretch to keep Missouri at bay.

The Cyclones shot 63 percent in the second half, made a season-high 10 steals and for just the second time this season, had more assists (12) than turnovers (7). It was their 19th straight conference victory at home, tying a Big 12 record.

Kareem Rush broke out of a shooting slump to lead Missouri (11-4, 1-1) with 29 points, but the Tigers couldn't handle Pearson inside or stop Sullivan and Shane Power from driving. Pearson was 13-of-23 from the field in topping his previous best of 25 points.

Missouri got nothing in the second half from Clarence Gilbert, who did not score after the 4:41 mark in the first half and finished with 11 points six below his average.

MU lost for the fourth time in six games after a 9-0 start had it ranked No. 2.

Texas Tech 72,

Texas A&M 70

College Station, Texas Kasib Powell scored 21 and Will Chavis' three-point basket in the closing minutes helping the Red Raiders edge Texas A&M.

The Red Raiders (13-1, 2-0 Big 12) won their 10th straight, while the Aggies (6-10, 0-2) lost for the 10th time in 12 games.

A&M coach Melvin Watkins suspended guards Michael Gardner and Daryl Mason on Monday, and the Aggies played the second half without center Andy Slocum, who broke a bone in his hand in the first half.

Andre Emmett added 17 points for the Red Raiders. Bernard King had the sixth triple double in A&M history with 20 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds. Andy Leatherman finished with a career high 17 points.

Colorado 84,

Morris Brown 44

Boulder, Colo. Stephane Pelle scored 21 points and D.J. Harrison added 15 as Colorado defeated Morris Brown. Colorado (9-3) jumped to a 27-4 lead. Morris Brown (1-16) trailed by double figures the rest of the game.

Pelle scored 17 in the first half and was 8-for-8 from the field. Nick Mohr added 11 for Colorado. CU shot 59 percent from the field. Morris Brown was 35 percent from the field and hit only two of nine free throws.

Larry Washington had 10 points for Morris Brown, which scored only 17 field goals and lost its 13th straight.
