'Malcolm' song earns Grammy nod

"Boss of Me," the theme song to "Malcolm in the Middle," has been nominated for a Grammy Award.

The song, performed by They Might Be Giants, earned a nod in the Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media category. It's the only song from a TV show to earn a nomination.

"Boss of Me" has been "Malcolm's" theme song since the show premiered in January 2000, but Grammy rules state that a song has to be released commercially to be eligible. A "Malcolm in the Middle" soundtrack was released last year.

"I'm glad the music academy finally came to its senses," series creator Linwood Boomer joked about the "Boss of Me" nomination.

The other nominees in the category are "A Love Before Time" from "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"; "My Funny Friend and Me" from "The Emperor's New Groove"; "There You'll Be" from "Pearl Harbor"; and "Win" from "Men of Honor."

CBS will broadcast the Grammy Awards live at

7 p.m. Feb. 27.
