Topeka The state has a new top child welfare administrator.
She is Marilyn Jacobson. Her title is acting assistant secretary of children and family policy at the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services.
Jacobson replaces Joyce Allegrucci, who held the job for three years.
Secretary Janet Schalansky told SRS administrators in a memo last month that Allegrucci was leaving to work for a gubernatorial campaign. Allegrucci is a Democrat and friend of Insurance Commissioner Kathleen Sebelius, the presumed Democratic nominee.
Jacobson has worked for SRS for nine years, most recently as special assistant to the deputy secretary for service delivery and director of the Olathe SRS office.
Her title is acting assistant secretary because Gov. Bill Graves has only a year left in office, agency spokeswoman Stacey Herman said Tuesday.
