Santa Fe Trail drops Perry, 68-52

— After four close games, Ottawa soundly defeated Kansas City Turner, 84-31, in high school girls basketball on Tuesday at OHS.

"It was just one of those games where you want to come out and play a complete game and do well in all statistical categories," Cyclones coach Cliff McCullough said, "and I think we did that. We needed a game like this."

Jayme Vance led Ottawa with 19 points. Liz Burks added 16 points and 10 assists, Lindsey Dieterich scored 15 and Katie Sheffield had eight points, 12 assists and seven steals.

Ottawa, ranked No. 1 in the coaches' poll, will travel to Atchison on Friday.

Carbondale The Chargers held the Kaws to 20 first-half points and remained unbeaten through eight games.

"We had our moments," SFT coach Brenda Dahl said. "Obviously the second and third quarters were our high points. We looked really good, but we had times we looked equally bad. It wasn't real pleasing, but we came away with a pretty good victory."

Lindsey Boss led the Chargers with 18 points and Melissa Ball added 16.

Shannon Wilson scored 28 points for the Kaws.
