To the editor:
We want to commend the Lawrence High School Marching Band for the incredible show that was presented during its two Prism Concerts on Dec. 11. The Lawrence community should be very proud of the band staff and students, who spent many hours preparing for this unique annual event.
Mike Jones, band director, told the audience, "This concert is all about fun." And it was! As each band and individual band section performed its specially prepared musical selection, it became evident to all of us in the audience that not only was this concert the culmination of an exciting and successful marching season, but it was also a showcase for a tremendous amount of talent.
We are proud of the band for its competitive performance this past fall. Its accomplishments include winning first place in the 5A division at the Blue Springs Marching Festival, receiving straight "I's" at the K-State Marching Festival and having 16 student band members selected for district band and orchestra. We applaud the LHS band staff and students for all of their hard work that began last August and ended with the Prism Concert. We eagerly await the 2002 concert season.
It's a great day to be a Lion!
