PC makers refresh Pentium 4 memory

Performance-minded buyers of Pentium 4-based PCs recently got a new choice in memory.

Beyond the two usual choices cheap, but slower SDRAM and fast, pricey and proprietary RDRAM Dell, Gateway and other manufacturers now offer systems that use "double data rate" memory.

DDR memory runs faster than SDRAM but costs much less than RDRAM.

Intel makes the chip sets manufacturers build Pentium 4 PCs around.

Google unveils catalogs

Search engine Google recently rolled out a test version of its latest feature.

Google users are now able to search through 600 catalogs, from Ann Taylor to Zabar's, and view images of individual pages from each catalog.

The site (catalogs.google.com) even allows people to search through some back copies.
