He was born Dec. 18, 1945, in Lawrence, the son of Laurence D. Sr. and Dorothy (Tobler) Rice.
Mr. Rice was a Cottonwood Inc. client for many years and since 1986 lived in the Community Living Opportunities.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the Sunshine Class at the church. He was involved in Special Olympics and enjoyed bowling.
He is survived by two aunts, one uncle and several cousins.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to Community Living Opportunities, sent in care of the mortuary.
