The majority of the Associated Press' top 10 men's basketball teams in action had a rough go on Saturday.

No. 2 Kansas and No. 3 Florida won, but Nos. 4-7 and No. 9 fell on the first Saturday of the new year.

Kansas beat Colorado, 97-85, in Boulder, Colo., and Florida upended South Carolina, 69-60, in Gainesville, Fla.

But after that, things got interesting.

No. 4 Virginia and No. 5 Oklahoma State fell from the ranks of the unbeaten.

The Cavaliers (9-1) fell to unranked North Carolina State, 81-74, in Charlottesville, Va.

Unranked Texas (9-4) shrugged off the effects of a brief scuffle between some Longhorns and OSU fans for a 70-61 victory over No. 5 Oklahoma State (13-1) in Stillwater, Okla.

No. 6 Kentucky (9-3) held a 16-point lead at halftime, but unranked Mississippi State (14-1) rallied for a 74-69 overtime win in Starkville, Miss.

Unranked Wisconsin (8-7) stunned No. 7 Illinois, 72-66, in Madison, Wis.

No. 8 Maryland did not play, but unranked Ohio State stunned No. 9 Iowa, 72-62, in Columbus, Ohio.

No. 10 Oklahoma ended the run with an 89-63 rout of Texas A&M, but No. 11 Boston College saw its two-year homecourt winning streak snapped, 77-74, by Pittsburgh.

No. 21 Miami also suffered its first loss, leaving idle No. 1 Duke as the nation's only undefeated team.
