Golden, Colo. Authorities have charged former Denver Broncos safety Mike Harden with theft and forgery.

Harden, who last played in 1989, made a court appearance Friday. He is charged with two counts of theft, two counts of forgery and one count of unauthorized use of a financial transaction device.

The alleged crimes took place between January 2000 and April 2001, records show. Two alleged victims have come forward, said Pam Russell, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office.

Bettis won't play if snow is falling

Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher said running back Jerome Bettis won't return from injuries to play against the Cleveland Browns at home today if it snows.

The National Weather Service is calling for 1-to-2 inches of snow. Cowher said he doesn't want Bettis running on a slippery field because of groin and hip problems.
