Nets' Martin fined, suspended two games

New York Kenyon Martin of the New Jersey Nets was suspended for two games and fined $15,000 by the NBA on Saturday for throwing a punch at Tracy McGrady of the Orlando Magic.

McGrady was fined $5,000 by the league for retaliating with a shove in Friday night's 109-96 victory by the Magic.

Martin, suspended once earlier this season, was given a flagrant foul and ejected.

Rockets forward Rice to undergo surgery

Houston Houston Rockets forward Glen Rice will undergo surgery on his injured right knee. An MRI showed no improvement on the partial tear of Rice's right patellar tendon. Rice announced his decision at halftime of Houston's game against Indiana on Saturday night.

Rice, who has a career average of 19.5 points and 4.6 rebounds, has been out since Dec. 8.
