Bottom Line
The School of Education at Kansas University seeks the district's help starting a Center for Psychoeducational Services. It would be involved with student assessment and tutoring.
A proposed one-year affiliation deal between the district and KU would obligate the district to pay half of the center director's salary, ranging from $19,000 to $21,000.
The district would use Medicaid funding to meet that obligation.
Background
Supt. Randy Weseman said the number of students with psychological issues had increased in recent years.
Under the agreement, KU would provide the district 660 hours for assessment of students in kindergarten through 12th grade. KU also would consult with teachers.
Services would be provided by student clinicians under supervision of KU faculty or staff.
