TUCSON, ARIZ. This was supposed to be Arizona's revenge. Instead, it was another Duck drubbing of the Wildcats.
Thirteen days after handing Arizona the most one-sided loss in coach Lute Olson's 19 seasons at the school, Oregon beat the 15th-ranked Wildcats again, 90-80, Friday night.
Arizona's Rick Anderson, right, shoots over Oregon's Robert Johnson. Unranked Oregon defeated No. 15 Arizona on Friday night at Tucson, Ariz.
"We felt we wanted to make another statement, having played so well up there in Eugene," Oregon coach Ernie Kent said. "Probably the best thing for us was to turn around and play them again."
A three-pointer by Will Bynum with 23.9 seconds to play prevented it from being Arizona's worst home loss of the Olson era.
Luke Ridnour set career highs with six three-pointers, 23 points and 10 assists as the Ducks (10-3, 3-0 Pac-10) won at McKale Center for the first time since 1985, a span of 16 consecutive losses.
Oregon swept Arizona for the first time since 1982-83.
Oregon, which made 13-of-22 three-pointers in its 105-75 rout of Arizona in Eugene on Dec. 22, hit 10-of-17 threes this time.
Luke Jackson added 21 points, and Freddie Jones scored 12 for the Ducks.
James Davis scored all 10 of his points in the second half for Oregon. A year ago, the Ducks lost at Arizona 104-65.
"We were so angry about that, so embarrassed about that," Jackson said. "More than anything, we just wanted to prove that we could win on the road."
Jason Gardner scored 22 points, but was just 7-for-19 from the field, 3-for-11 on three-pointers, for the Wildcats (8-4, 1-2), who were without Luke Walton, their best passer and defender. Walton, one of only three non-freshmen in Arizona's rotation, strained his right Achilles' tendon on Dec. 29.
No. 12 Stanford 82, California 62
Stanford, Calif. Julius Barnes scored a career-high 27 points as Stanford opened Pac-10 play with a victory over Cal. Josh Childress added 13 points and Matt Lottich had 12 as the Cardinal (8-2, 1-0) beat Cal for the 10th consecutive time. Joe Shipp scored 15 points and Brian Wethers added 14 for the Bears (9-2, 0-1), who had a five-game winning streak stopped.
Cardinal coach Mike Montgomery owns a 14-2 mark at home against Cal. None of the current Bears has ever beaten Stanford.
No. 14 UCLA 74, Washington 62
Los Angeles UCLA's T.J. Cummings bent the rim with a dunk during warmups, causing tipoff to be delayed 20 minutes. Turns out he was just getting started. Cummings had 22 points and a career-high 11 rebounds as the Bruins won their eighth consecutive game.
UCLA (10-2, 3-0 Pac-10) never led by more than five points until the final 4:40, getting a scare from the Huskies (6-7, 0-3), who hasn't won at Pauley Pavilion since 1987.
Josh Barnard, a junior college transfer, scored 22 points for Washington.
