Company: TherapyWorks, 1112 W. Sixth St.

Owner: Cindy Johnson.

Number of employees: 63.

Years in business: Eight.

Main services: Physical and occupational therapy and sports performance enhancement. TherapyWorks also has a wellness center.

Why is the Lawrence area a good place for the business? Lawrence residents "are very conscious of the importance of good health," Johnson said. "Our goal is to be able to provide them with the information and opportunities to achieve their health and wellness goals."

What are the company's growth plans? The company's growth vision stretches beyond the company, Johnson said:

"We are committed to promoting a healthy community. If a person feels better physically, they are able to interact more with their family, give 100 percent at their job and have energy left over to volunteer in community organizations. All of these effects result in excellent social and economical as well as physical health for our community."

Something you may be surprised to learn about the business: Johnson completed her first full marathon in September, when she covered 26.2 miles at the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon.

"My husband, Christopher, and local physician Carla Phipps trained throughout the summer and completed the marathon with me," Johnson said. "Up until the marathon, I had only participated in fun runs and 5Ks."
