To the editor:
First, I resolve to show my personal displeasure with the Haskell Indian Nations University faculty, staff and students by initiating a short blast on my car horn every time I pass the 23rd Street entrance to the campus. That beep will be my way of "thanking" them for the under-whelming level of support they have shown their host community in its efforts to address the south Lawrence traffic congestion issue.
Second, I resolve to clip and save every LJW article on the SLT in the coming year. This way, should I have the misfortune to have a "congestion-related" automobile accident on 23rd Street, or contact some swamp-bred malady like Nile Virus, I will have a source of individual and organization names to include in my lawsuit.
Finally, I resolve to send a letter to the 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives and each of our 100 senators questioning the rationale of continuing to federally fund Haskell University rather than having the "500 American Indian tribes with Haskell ties" fund their university from casino proceeds!
Gary Stussie,
Lawrence
