Memorial services for Pamela "Pam" J. Joyce, 59, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at First United Methodist Church, Lawrence. She was cremated.
Mrs. Joyce died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at Clarebridge Cottage, Topeka. She moved to Lawrence in 1965, from Wauneta, Neb.
She was born July 13, 1942, in Imperial, Neb., the daughter of Bruce and Esther (Hare) Ressler.
Mrs. Joyce was a 1964 graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University, Lincoln, Neb. She received her master's degree in physical education in 1967 from Kansas University.
She assisted her husband with his optometry practice for many years.
She was a member of Delta Zeta social sorority, Women's Auxiliary to the Kansas Optometric Assn., PEO Sisterhood and First United Methodist Church, Lawrence.
She married Gary L. Joyce on Nov. 24, 1966, in Wauneta, Neb. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Megan Joyce, Leesville, N.C., and Erin Awalt, Joliet, Ill.; two sons, Patrick Joyce, Lawrence, and Jeffery Joyce, Clayton, Mo.; a brother, Dorsey Ressler, Littleton, Colo.; a stepbrother, Eddie Arenz, Wauneta, Neb.; two stepsisters, Ann Martin, Seattle, Wash., and Jeri Ruth Schluckebier, Lincoln, Neb.; and two grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials in her name to National Alzheimer's Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.
