Burglaries and thefts reported
A 60-year-old Fountain, Colo., woman told Lawrence Police someone took three sets of earrings belonging to her after she left them at the Super 8 Motel, 515 McDonald Drive. She said she stayed at the hotel Dec. 21-22. She said she later called the motel about the earrings and was told they were being held for her. When she arrived to pick them up Sunday she was told they were missing, a police report said. The earrings were valued at a total of $1,100.
A 51-year-old Lawrence man reported to Lawrence Police that someone took his fire safe. The safe, which was kept in a closet in his residence in the 2700 block of Bonanza Street, disappeared sometime between Nov. 30 and Dec. 25, the man told police. Inside the safe was $2,500, the police report said.
A 19-inch television, VCR and other items were taken in a burglary reported to Lawrence Police Tuesday. Someone removed them from an apartment in the 2300 block of West 26th Street, a 20-year-old man who lived there reported. Total losses were listed at $3,041.
An inventory showed computer equipment missing from the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services office, 1901 Del. A report was made to Lawrence Police Monday. Missing are a color printer, a laptop computer and an IBM Think Pad valued at a total of $2,000.
Burglars kicked open a door to an apartment in the 2000 block of West Sixth Street sometime Monday night or early Tuesday. The 20-year-old man who lived there told police several computer and electronic items valued at a total of $5,800 were taken.
A 1988 Mercury Cougar was taken from a 20-year-old Lawrence man. He told Lawrence Police the car had been parked about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Illinois. The car was valued at $2,000.
