Services for Marvin L. Crawford, 76, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Crawford died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 23, 1925, in Olivet, the son of Raymond F. and Florence M. (Conklin) Crawford.
Mr. Crawford was in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in Europe and received two Purple Hearts. He worked at Sunflower Ordnance on the Guard Force from 1951 to 1957. He was a rancher and truck driver for USI from 1959 to 1973, and for W.A. Dunbar for 10 years, both in Lawrence. He retired in 1989. He then worked as a safety officer for Mayflower Bus Co., Lawrence, for five years.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Quarter Horse Assn., former member of Acacia Lodge No. 9 AF&AM and Adah Chapter No. 7 Order of the Eastern Star, all in Lawrence.
He married Mary Virginia Tedrow Jan. 10, 1944, in Ottawa. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Michael L., Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters, Jade E. "Betty" Moore, Carol Ann Hout and Rita M. Tryborn, all of Lawrence; two sisters, Eula Wadkins and Thelma Brenner, both of Ottawa; one brother, Alvin of Pamona; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.
