Why is the Lawrence area a good place for the business? "The steady pace of growth in Lawrence has provided many opportunities to develop new business and personal insurance customers that complement our large base of existing clients," Hack said.

What are the company's growth plans? CEK plans to continue to grow at a rate of 10 percent to 15 percent a year, Hack said.

Where do you see the business in five years? "While maintaining exceptional customer care, we plan to aggressively grow both our Lawrence and North Kansas City operations," he said.

Something you may be surprised to learn about the business: "The origin of our agency dates back to 1931, when Mr. Claude Scott, a former manager of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, began selling personal accident policies for the Travelers Insurance Co.," Hack said.
