— Mass of Christian Burial for Alfred O. Murguia, 81, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Kansas City, Kan. Burial will follow.

Mr. Murguia died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.

He was born April 9, 1920, in Dewey, Okla., the son of Ramon and Caritina (Olivares) Murguia. He returned with his family to Tangancicuaro, Michoacan, Mexico, in 1931. He returned to live in Kansas City, Kan., in 1945.

Mr. Murguia worked at Kansas City, Kan., Structural Steel Company for 37 years.

He was a member of St. John the Divine Catholic Church, Kansas City, Kan.

He married Amalia Fernandez. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Alfred Jr., Carlos and Ramon, all of Kansas City, Kan.; three daughters, Rose Mary Murguia, Kansas City, Kan., Mary Helen Murguia, Phoenix, and Janet Murguia, Lawrence; a stepdaughter, Martha A. Hernandez, Kansas City, Kan.; five sisters, Elvira Gutierrez, Milwaukee, Mercedes Murguia, Dixon, Calif., Maria Hernandez, Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico, and Catlina Murguia and Alicia Murguia, both of Juventino Rosas, Guanajuato, Mexico; a brother, Filiberto, Milwaukee; and seven grandchildren.

Friends may call at the church from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a rosary prayer service at 6 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to Greater Kansas City Hispanic Scholarship Fund at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, sent in care of Simmons Funeral Home, 1404 S. 37th St., Kansas City, Kan. 66106.
