Notes and quotes: Britney on Britney

Here are some thoughts by pop sensation Britney Spears:

On lip-syncing “I would say that 75 percent of everything you hear at one of my concerts is me, although even if you’re hearing a track, it’s me singing over the track.

“When I do my slow songs, I’ll totally do that live. When I start to sing up-tempo, I’ll definitely up the vocal tracks a little because there’s no way I can dance the way I dance and sing.

“It’s all in what you want from a show. If I want to hear somebody sing really, really good, I’ll go buy their CD and listen to it at home. But, if I go to a show, I like to be entertained. I like to see theatrics. I want things going on everywhere on that stage.

“And you can’t get that without using some tracks. Trust me, there’s some tracking going on in other acts that include dancing.”

On fashion “Sometimes, I think it’s fun to get dressed all flashy for a big event, but normally I don’t even think about what I’m going to wear. It depends on the mood I’m in. There are times when I just want to wear a country dress.”

On what she hates “I hate it when I go to parties after one of my shows, and there are all these people I’ve never met coming up and telling me how great I am. It’s so fake. I’d rather just go out with my friends and chill.”

On her fans “To see their little faces light up with joy is a very cool feeling. I feel blessed to be able to entertain for them and get that reaction. But, at the same time, I feel humbled by it.”

On being so famous “I have moments when I wish I could do a concert tour of small, intimate rooms where there is no screaming. But those are only moments. When I walk on a stage in front of thousands of people, I’m right where I want to be. I like the life I lead. I can’t believe I get to do this for a living.”
