His Eagle project consisted of constructing a nesting box for Barred Owls, erecting 10 bird habitats and a bird feeder at the Prairie Park Nature Center. He also completed an edging and rock renovation project around City Hall.
Brandt has served his troop in various leadership positions, including patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, senior patrol leader and troop guide.
He has participated in several High Adventures, including two hiking and backpacking trips to camp Alexander in Colorado, where he earned the mile swim and historic trails patch. He hiked at Philmont in New Mexico where he earned the 50-mile hiker patch. He participated in two canoe trips to Boundary Waters in Canada, where he earned the 50-mile foot and float patch.
Brandt is a senior at Free State High School, where he has participated on the swim team, football team and cross country team. He also has participated in the marching band and jazz band. He is a member of the film club and DECA, a marketing club.
He has completed lifeguard training and is employed at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center.
He is the son of Pat and Lynn Brandt, Lawrence.Â
The Tiger Den of Cub Scout Pack 3051, chartered to Pinckney School, visited Papa John's Pizza, where they were given a tour and they each prepared a small pizza. Those who participated in the Feb. 2 tour were Jamie Braden, Johnathan Roberts, Spencer Wilson, William Thompson and Christopher Sloan.
On Feb. 16, the den visited and toured Pet World. Tigers who participated in the tour were Mason Robinson, William Thompson, Nicholas Crowe, Dante Tucker, Jamie Braden, Christopher Sloan and Spencer Wilson.
Cub Scout Pack 3051 participated in Scout Sunday Feb. 17 at the Centenary United Methodist Church. They were joined by scouts from Troop 52 and Girl Scouts from Troops 588 and 547. Those who participated in the event were Justin Stearns, William Gibson, Tyler Gibson, Danny Lee and Rich DiBenedetto, Pack 3051; Tia Barta, Hannah Copp, Amanda Dixon and Courtney Cooper, Troop 588; Ashley DiBenedetto, Troop 547; and Justin Deaver and Tim Barta, Troop 52.
Adult leaders who accompanied the Scouts were Wayne Deaver, Lisa DiBenedetto, Harold Aiken and Tammy Barta.Â
Cub Scout Pack 3057, chartered to the Lawrence Catholic Schools, had its annual Blue and Gold Banquet on Feb. 16 at St. John the Evangelist Church. The Black Dragons, a Webelo Den, conducted the opening ceremony. Father Charles Polifka awarded the following Scouts their Light of Christ religious award: Austin Barone, Jacob Pfeifer, Jonathan Fitzgerald, Lucas Volgelsang, Patrick Shields, Jimmy Kittel, Adam Ramos and Brady Murrish. The Light of Christ is the Catholic medal for boys in Cub Scouts.
After a Friends of Scouting presentation, the Arrow of Light ceremony was given. Bill Berkowitz and Tristan Wagner, Order of Arrow members from Boy Scout Troop 52, helped with the ceremony. The following Webelo Scouts earned their Arrow of Light: David Brown, Josh Hill, Austin Noll, Sean Ridenour, Gus Wilgen-Toccalino and Chris Wildgen. The Arrow of Light is the highest award that a Cub Scout can receive.
The following boys were bridged into Troop 52 after the Arrow of Light ceremony: David Brown, Josh Hill, Sean Ridenour, Gus Wilgen-Toccalino and Chris Wildgen. Representing Troop 52 in the Bridging ceremony were David Berkowitz, Bill Rogers and Bruce Wagner, all assistant Scoutmasters.
The Tiger Cub Den conducted the closing ceremony.
