Area Boys Roundup: Gardner-Edgerton clubs Cardinals, 70-40

? Eudora High boys basketball coach Scott Stein is usually one of the most animated and vocal coaches in the Frontier League.

On Friday night, however, Stein displayed a stoic face for the majority of the second half.

Eudora (11-9, 4-5) suffered its worst loss of the season, 70-40, at Gardner-Edgerton.

“We played terrible, just flat terrible,” Stein said. “We need to play defense better and rebound better. I hope we can block out, because Mill Valley can execute well too.”

Eudora, the third seed in its sub-state, will play host to Mill Valley at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Eudora stayed with the 5A Trailblazers (15-6) throughout the first quarter as EHS seniors Lear Bowling, who scored a team high seven points, and Wes Hinman and sophomore Tyler Cleveland scored all of their points in early.

The game turned ugly in the second quarter when both teams were forced to shoot free throws.

Gardner-Edgerton senior Le’Mar Harrison had a perfect 13-for-13 game from the free-throw line and finished with a game-high 21 points.

Gardner-Edgerton finished 23-for-28 from the free-throw line while Eudora made only eight of 19 frow-throw attempts.
