Artistic success

To the editor:

The article in last Thursday’s paper “Arts groups face losses in Wichita, not in Lawrence” prompts me to reveal that the Lawrence Chamber Orchestra is having a successful season. The Messiah performance Nov. 18, with the two high school choirs, was received very well, and nearly met the cost of the concert with ticket sales (a rarity). The benefit Baroque by Candlelight Jan. 26 was enjoyed by those attending. The LCO puts on Benjamin Britten’s staged medieval play “Noah’s Flood” March 2-3 at the First Presbyterian Church, with major participation by young people in town, and the season finale will be April 14 (Liberty Hall) and 16 (Baldwin). Please count us in as one of the city’s successful arts activities.
