Paul William Miller

The Rev. Miller died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Providence Place Nursing Home, Kansas City, Kan.

He was born Oct. 7, 1918, in Washington, D.C., the son of Paul William and Mary (McGlew) Miller. He grew up in Granville, N.Y., where he attended public schools, graduating from Granville High School in 1936.

He graduated from St. Bonaventure University, N.Y., in 1940. He then attended Christ the King Seminary, Bonaventure, and was ordained a priest Feb. 2, 1944, at Buffalo, N.Y. After First Mass at Newburyport, Mass., and at Granville, his first assignment was Holy Name Catholic Church, Topeka, for four months before being assigned to St. Peter’s Church, Kansas City, Kan., for four years, when he also taught at Ward High School. He spent four years at Holy Family Catholic Church, Summerfield; eight years at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Eudora; seven years at Holy Family Catholic Church, Lenexa; 12 years at Christ the King Catholic Church, Kansas City, Kan.; two years at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Olathe; nine years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa; and 10 years at Holy Family Catholic Church, Eudora. He retired to the pastoral care center Dec. 1, 2000, after 56 years as a priest of the Archdiocese. He celebrated 58 years in the priesthood Feb. 2.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Holy Family Catholic Church, Eudora, or from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at Savior of the World Seminary before the funeral Mass. Following Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church, there will be a rosary prayer service and all-night vigil.
