Big 12 issues reprimands to four players

? The Big 12 Conference announced it has reprimanded four players involved in an altercation during the second half of the Colorado-Iowa State men’s basketball game on Feb. 13.

CU brothers D.J. Harrison and David Harrison each received reprimands from Big 12 commissioner Kevin Weiberg as did Iowa State’s Jared Homan and Ricky Morgan.

Early in the second half, an altercation occurred involving the teams as they made their way to the bench areas during a called timeout. Homan left the bench area and was ejected by officials. From the videotape and officials’ reports, Morgan, D.J. Harrison and David Harrison each shoved during the altercation.

Homan taunted and bumped one of the Colorado players. D.J. Harrison also threw his wristband into the crowd during the incident.

“There is no place in Big 12 basketball for these kinds of actions by student-athletes,” Weiberg said. “We expect athletes and coaches to display courtesy and respect toward one another.

“We are also very concerned about D.J. Harrison throwing his wristband into the crowd in an act of frustration during this incident. While the object thrown is relatively harmless, it is clearly an additional act of poor sportsmanship and is not acceptable.”

Weiberg said any further actions of this kind could result in game suspensions and/or institutional fines.
