Area Boys Roundup: Perry-Lecompton stuns Santa Fe Trail, 41-36

? After trailing most of the game, Perry-Lecompton held Santa Fe Trail to two fourth-quarter points, and the Kaws rallied for a 41-36 high school boys basketball victory on Tuesday at SFT.

“We’re over the hump now,” P-L coach Pat Hupfauf said after the Kaws, with their fourth straight victory, improved to 10-9. “We’re very excited. We’re playing fantastic basketball. We’ve lost one game in the last three weeks. We’re playing great basketball at the right time.”

Santa Fe Trail (12-7) led most of the way, but Perry won the fourth quarter, 11-2.

“We shut ’em down,” Hupfauf said. “We just put the clampers on them. We made plays and hit our shots when we had to.”

Aaron Swaggerty led the Kaws with 12 points, and Shawn Howard and Justin Zimmerman added 10 each.

Brian Kral and Cameron Babb each scored 10 to lead SFT.
