T.J. Anderson

He was born Dec. 21, 1925, in Oskaloosa, the son of Oscar J. Sr. and Isa Ann (Wilkerson) Anderson.

Rev. Anderson served as pastor at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Leavenworth, until 1966 and at Grace Missionary Baptist Church, Topeka, for 27 years before retiring in 1995. He was also a pastor at churches in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Alabama during his 45-year ministry. He also served as Interstate Missionary for the American Baptist Assn. for seven years.

He was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church, Topeka. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving from 1945 to 1946.

He married Bette L. Yates on Sept. 5, 1947, in Leavenworth. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Dennis J., Meriden, and Donald J., Leavenworth; a daughter, Marla K. Brink, Meriden; two brothers, Wilbur, Osage City, and Oscar Jr., Winchester; five sisters, Ruby Stewart, Valley Falls, Juanita Stewart, Topeka, Ella Frances Smith, Leavenworth, Beulah J. Bunn, Lawrence, and Violet May, Phoenix; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday at Barnett’s Meriden Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
