Alfred H. Cook

Shawnee Services for Alfred H. Cook, 82, Merriam, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Amos Family Chapel, Shawnee. Burial will be in Pleasanton Cemetery, Pleasanton.

Mr. Cook died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.

He was born July 22, 1919, in Ackerman, Miss., the son of William M. and Nora (Mathews) Cook.

Mr. Cook was owner and operator of Walnut Grove RV Park, Merriam. He served in the Navy Sea Bees in World War II.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Shawnee, and the American Legion.

He married Donna R. Ashley. She died in 1999.

Survivors include four sons, Fred, Bedford, Tex., Don, Lawrence, Thomas, St. Louis, and Ron Thompson, Merriam; four daughters, Nancy Thompson and Jane Reynolds, both of Merriam, Suzanne Baeke, Overland Park, and Ali Dawn Bengfort, Shawnee; a sister, Margaret Daniels, Ft. Worth, Tex; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Rebecca Dawn Cook Thompson, died in 1991.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Amos Family Chapel.
