Background

A bill allowing Douglas County to have an election to approve a 20-year quarter-cent sales tax to raise money for industrial and open land is before the Kansas Legislature. Commissioners will decide whether the city will support the bill.

Award bid for a one-ton crew cab pickup truck with tool body for the Public Works department, to the low bidder, Olathe Ford, for $31,946.

Rezoning approximately 2.75 acres from agricultural to planned residential development. The property is generally located northwest of the intersection of West Sixth Street and Wakarusa Drive.

Rezoning approximately 19.19 acres from agricultural to planned commercial development. The property is generally located northwest of the intersection of West Sixth Street and Wakarusa Drive.

Providing for the Phase III tax abatement for Sauer-Danfoss; originally authorized by the City Commission on Sept. 7, 1999.

Adopt on second and final reading the following ordinances:

Approve Cooperation Agreement with Douglas County for the construction of sanitary sewer improvements in the area northwest of Sixth Street and Wakarusa Drive (Westwood Hills and adjacent developments). This is a revised cooperation agreement and was approved by the Douglas County Commission on Feb. 11, 2002.

Receive recommendation from the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department for amendments to city code provisions governing swimming pools and nonresidential spas. Approve proposed code provisions and authorize an ordinance to be drafted. Approve recommended regulations as authorized by Section 5-802 of the City Code.

Approve following site plans subject to conditions:

For a cellsite on wheels at 1112 W. Sixth Street, north of Taco Bell and west of the Medical Plaza.

For proposed office building and associated parking at Lot 1B, Quail Crest Addition, located at the southeast corner of Wakarusa and Quail Crest drives.

Approve selection of Hillcrest Wrecker and Garage Inc. for City towing services contract (Police Department), March 1, 2002, to Feb. 28, 2003.
