The Lawrence Music Club will meet at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at the home of Evelyn Falen, 2614 Orchard Lane. Falen will present “Music Technology,” a narrative and demonstration. R. Wayne Nelson will give a piano recital. He will play romantic music from Broadway musicals. Visitors are welcome to attend.

The Welcome Club of Lawrence will meet at noon Thursday at the Lawrence Public Library’s Auditorium, 707 Vt. Chanisa Arthachinda, a certified meditation teacher, will share the value of meditation and a few techniques. The menu is Farmer’s strata, fresh fruit, coffee cakes and muffins. Cost is $10. The University Bridge Club’s Jan. 19 meeting was hosted by Al and Carol Smith.

The winners of the Blue Group were: Warren Lesh, first; Dale Kring, second; Ralph Dunn, third; Hank Miller, fourth; and Lois Liebert, fifth. The winners of the Pink Group were: Mildred Hoffman, first; Edna Galle, second; Florence McNicoll, third; Wanda Kring, fourth; and Cathy Waller, fifth.

The club’s Jan. 26 meeting was hosted by Lois Liebert and Theda Pierson.

The Blue Group winners were: Bob Etherton, first; Horace Nelson, second; Roy Cropp, third; Ed Stellmacher; and Rod Davis, fifth. The Pink Group winners were: Betty Lukens, first; Hazel Stellmacher, second; Marian Davis, third; Edna Galle, fourth; and Jean Whitaker, fifth.

The Lawrence Parkinson’s Support Group will meet at 2 p.m. Feb. 19 at the First Presbyterian Church, 2415 Clinton Parkway. The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club’s Feb. 1 game was stratified and was directed by Don Brennaman.

The North-South winners were led by Harry Talley and Don Daugherty, followed by Jerry Ungar and Harry Shaffer. Klee Zaricky and Chris Lane placed third, followed Lois Clark and Julia Brooks. Judy Bevan and Linda Heavin placed second in the C session.

East-West winners were led by Frances Vogel and Carol Ball, followed by Mike Blumenfeld and Cathy Blumenfeld. Eldon Herd and Glenna Herd placed third, followed by Bebe Huxtable and Kittye Hagen.

The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club’s Monday game was stratified and was directed by Virginia Seaver.

The winners were led by Virginia Seaver and Phyllis Brownlee, followed by James Gunn and Harry Shaffer. Jerry Sloan and Eldon Herd placed third, followed by Cathy Blumenfeld and Michael Blumenfeld.

The winners of next week’s games will win “silver” master points.
